Dr. Krift utilizes Low Level Laser Therapy

by Multi Radiance Medical®

Laser therapy that is utilized for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions is also known as Low Level Laser, Cold Laser and or Phototherapy. This type of laser uses high powered light to stimulate tissue repair on the cellular level.

How does it work? Watch video

Super-pulsed laser sends energy in the form photons of light deep into the tissues that have been injured or are in need of repair. The cells of our bodies have receptors for these photons. The light energy is turned into cellular energy which stimulates repair. This is also called bio-stimulation.

What will I feel?

Most of the time there is no sensation and you are not able to actually “feel” the laser because we are using light to stimulate tissue repair. Sometimes there is soothing warmth generated in the area. Some patients feel relief of pain or a decrease in pain after just one session.

What conditions are treated with low level laser therapy?

Laser therapy is used to treat a variety of acute and chronic condition which includes:

Back pain, neck pain, rotator cuff injuries, shoulder pain, tendonitis, bursitis, arthritis, sprains, strains, knee pain, tennis elbow, golfers elbow and plantar fasciitis.

How long does it take and how many treatments will I need?

Typical treatment duration lasts from 5-20 minutes depending on the area being treated and the condition being treated. The number of treatment depends on the nature of the condition. Acute conditions such as sprains and strains usually respond within 1-6 treatments and more chronic conditions like arthritis or old injuries may require 10 or more treatments. Results are usually experienced within 3-4 sessions.
